Jimi Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix was born as Johnny Allen Hendrix and was renamed James Marshall Hendrix later on. When Jimi was nine years old, his parents James Al Hendrix and Lucille Jeter divorced. After his mother's death in 1958, Jimi moved in with his grandmother. A troubled family environment, poverty and neglect made Jimi grow up as a sensitive and reserved boy. Jimi acquired his first acoustic guitar at the age of 14 on which he would practice tunes after watching others play and listening to records. At a young age, Jimi had started participating in local music bands. Hendrix has a major role in the development of guitar feedback through overdriven amplifiers.
